Virginia (Ginni) Henke was born in Iowa City, Iowa and remained in
eastern Iowa throughout her childhood and professional education. She
obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Zoology from the University of
Iowa and later completed her Physician Assistant (PA) training there
receiving a Bachelor of Science and Physician Assistant Certification
(PA-C) in 1983 at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She has
maintained her certification since then by fulfilling AAPA
requirements for continuing medical education and successfully passing
recertification examinations at six-year intervals.
Her subsequent work experience includes staffing family practice and
public health clinics in southwestern Pennsylvania. Locally, she has
managed ambulatory pediatric patients under the supervision of Dr.
Bill Hinz and staffed the Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening clinics
for Dickinson-Iron County Health Department. By joining Drs. Henke
and Merrill in 1997, she has continued to pursue her interest in
obstetrics, gynecology and preventative health for women. Ginni has
completed a postgraduate Masters program for Physician Assistants in
Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Ginni and her husband reside in Iron Mountain
with their children Ben, Lily, Sam, Bridget and Colin. Additionally,
she has been an active volunteer serving in the schools, her church
and other community programs.
